Balancing your thoughts

When I was at school I was always searching for that million dollar idea – but it always seemed to elude me. Well actually that probably isn’t really true I did have tons of ideas – but like many people once I had an idea I would always think of multiple reasons why it couldn’t be done. Does that sound familiar? If so you need to change the way you think.

Every day we have around 50,000 thoughts. One of them might be that million dollar idea I was searching for – that’s not really the point though. How many of your thoughts end up being of a negative nature? Negative thoughts are about as useful as (insert your comment here). They are not helpful and they will only hold you back.

Now I don’t want to go all “The secret” on you, but I believe, no actually I know that most people don’t think positively enough about their own lives – and you do too. Many of us have unknowingly programmed an automatic negative thought system or ANTS. Once ANTS get in they can be really hard to get rid of; they can serious weigh you down and stop you from living your life.

The best way to stop ANTS is by developing a PMA (positive mental attitude). Instead of saying “I can’t” or “it’s too hard” – start thinking about how you can. Get off your @rse! Pull out a pen and paper then start to brainstorm ideas so you can draw up your how to plan.

Changing the way we think can be difficult because humans are creatures of habit. It is easier to say no – but it is also very unfulfilling. The negative thoughts can begin to manifest into your words and deeds – and that is healthy.

I guess it all really comes back too; how much do you really want it? If you really want it, you need to focus on the positives and have the nothing is going to stop me attitude. I guess it’s really is the champion’s mindset – people like Lance Armstrong and Mohamed Ali; who when it got tough never quit, because they possessed a PMA.

I will finish this off with one quote and one motto – feel free to use them. The famous Mr Football Ted Whitten once said “don’t think – just do!” and the Nike motto is “just do it”
