Whoa it’s been a very long Sunday, I left Melbourne at 6am and arrived in LA at 7am (but that 1 hour was actually 19 or so). So I have only been in America for a few hours but I have already seen a few things that have shocked me.
The first is the amount of takeaway / fast food outlets there are, I went for a walk before – looking for something to eat for lunch, I was hoping to get something healthy but I wasn’t really holding my breath – the best I could find was Subway. Before I found subway though I walked past a Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Burger King, Carl’s, Denys and couple more I can’t remember off the top of my head.
Another thing that has shock me was the Advertising of pharmaceutical drugs on TV, I have seen ads for Lipitor, Viagra and a drug for Asthma during the football and baseball. It is not something I have seen in Australia and the ads must have to mention possible side effects of using them – I had a good chuckle at the Viagra ads warnings (not very mature of me I know).
The last thing I want to mention today is couple of billboards I have seen (actually there is heaps of them) – for lap band surgery. The phone number is easy to remember too its 1800 lap band.
America the land of fast – fast food, fast (quick) fix medical drugs or procedures.
Change your lifestyle – eat real food and do some exercise – America.
